OH HEY!

I’m MJ Anderson — an actor, singer, and dramaturg based in New York City, with a deep love for storytelling, fashion, songwriting, and physical comedy.

My passion for performance was ignited at just five years old, when I saw Beauty and the Beast on Broadway — a moment that sparked a lifelong need to be onstage. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working across film sets, live theatre stages, and music venues, each experience pushing me to grow as both an artist and a collaborator. Whether I’m performing, creating, or supporting the storytelling process behind the scenes, I’m driven by the thrill of connecting with audiences and bringing bold, heartfelt work to life.

I’ve spent the past three years training at the MSNR Studio at New York University, where I’ve had the opportunity to develop a strong foundation in performance and technique. This fall, I’ll be continuing my pursuit of a BFA in Drama by joining the Lee Strasberg Institute of Film and Television — further deepening my exploration of method acting and screen performance.

In addition to my work on stage, I’m passionate about understanding the full scope of production. My backstage experience began at the historic Dock Street Theatre with Charleston Stage Company and has continued at NYU. I’ve worked as a stage manager, production assistant on film sets, crew member, and board operator for both sound and lighting. These experiences have given me a well-rounded perspective on storytelling, and I’m always excited to collaborate on projects that challenge and inspire.

I’m fueled by curiosity, an unhealthy amount of Dr. Pepper, and the occasional midnight burst of inspiration that ruins any chance of a normal sleep schedule. When I’m not spending time with my family, jamming with my friends, or scouring actor’s access, I’m probably watching some animated movie (which I know all the words to) or reading the latest spicy book

This site is my virtual playground, digital sketchbook, and mildly chaotic portfolio. Take a look around — and if you like what you see (or want to send me a picture of your dog OR even better want to work with me), don’t be shy.
